The law is very clear on the fact that only veterinary surgeons can diagnose and treat animals.
It is illegal under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 for lay practitioners, however qualified in the human field, to treat animals.
However it is lawful for healers to give hands on healing to animals provided that the animal that is to receive healing has been seen by a veterinary surgeon and that he or she is content for healing to be given to the animal.
