National Animal Welfare Trust
I have worked as a volunteer at the Watford branch of the National Animal Welfare Trust as a volunteer over the Christmas period. This is a wonderful charity (charity number 1090499) that takes in dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs which are either unwanted or where they can no longer be looked after by their owners for whatever reason. The charity has a policy of not putting any animal to sleep which means that some animals are long term residents owing to behavioural problems or other issues that may make them unattractive to potential owners. The aim is to rehome all animals that are suitable for rehoming. The staff are totally dedicated to their work, and the animals are cared for with love and time.
The charity does not obtain any government or grant funding, and as such is wholly dependent on voluntary donations for it's continued existence and work. All donations are so gratefully received, as are blankets, dog duvets, animal foodstuffs etc.
As I have a ballot place in the Virgin London Marathon in April 2010, I have decided to run for the National Animal Welfare Trust. All and any contributions towards my own fund raising efforts for this charity will be greatly appreciated, no matter how large or small. Donations can be made online securely on the JustGiving website by clicking here.
In addition I am donating £7.00 to the National Animal Welfare Trust from every one of my Healing Journey meditation CD's that are ordered when you indicate "NAWT" on the order form (the cost is £9.95; the £2.95 that I am retaining relates to the hard cost to me). To find out more about this CD, and to order, please click here. Please do not forget to indicate "NAWT" on the order form.
Thank you.
