healing into life
Everyone is on an individual path through life. This brings a multitude of experiences to each of us, some stressful, some sad, some devastating, some of great joy. What each experience is guaranteed to bring is a new lesson, if we are receptive to the teaching.
It is a help to some people to have a steadfast principle in their lives upon which they feel they can rely on, particularly when times seem difficult. Some will look at religion, some will look at particular philosophies and principles, others will look to themselves. Whatever the chosen idea, the important thing is the response of the individual to their chosen belief, and how this manifests in their life.
I do not suggest that any one way is the right, or chosen path. For each, if true, is valid. The important thing is for each person to have a system (or none if that is right for them) that aids them in finding their own truth.
There are, in my view, five cardinal principles which (irrespective of creed, culture or religion) can lead to personal realisation and fulfilment, as follows:
Focus
The single minded concentration on one’s purpose, whether it be meditation, or an outward manifestation on a particular task in hand. The dealing with the current initiative wholeheartedly, with best intention.
Love
The desire to treat all, and everything, with respect, and to wish for others for things (in terms of happiness and truth) that they wish for themselves. The desire for peace, communion, unity and wholeness. The recognition that the hurting of others is hurting of the self.
Acceptance
To accept what comes in the realisation that each and every situation brings us lessons that bring benefit to us. To show tolerance, and understanding, to others, notwithstanding differences in ideals, or views. This is not to say that we must be submissive, or willingly accept things that others wish to visit upon us. The concept is one of acceptance using our free will, from the basis of truth. In so doing one also releases negativity, and those things that, if allowed to do so, can fester, grow and lead to illness.
Protection
To be aware of all things around us, and within us, and to ensure that we only permit those things, and energies, that are beneficial to us to be taken within. The blocking of negative, and harmful energies from our systems. The nurture of body, mind and spirit through exercise, diet, stimulation, and such spiritual practice as may be right for each individual.
Calm
The achievement of inner peace and balance of mind, body and spirit, which manifests by the outward showing of calm. What is brought about by the practice of the principles of Focus, Love, Acceptance and Protection.
The achievement of the state of calm may appear to be elusive, and beyond reach. It is not. The practice of Healing as part of a life path brings this, and many other benefits to both the Healer and the Healee. In addition to the acknowledged physical benefits of Healing (relaxation, possible pain mitigation and/or relief, non invasion, reduction in stress etc) healing works with the emotions and spirit, and therefore works with body, mind and spirit. It can, and does promote the self healing ability of the body at the highest level, which after all is the only way of healing. It is about taking back one’s own power and responsibility. It is about the acceptance, and loving of oneself, and recognising the divine spark within all.
Healing is freely available to all. Some healers charge, others do not but some will accept donations.
There are a number of organisations that promote healing, the best known possibly being the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (“NFSH”). There are a number of NFSH centres around the country where healers give their services for free, but where donations towards the rent and expenses will be accepted. The NFSH is a charity, and so any donations that exceed expenses go towards the charity, and hence the promotion of healing. For more on the NFSH visit their site from our links page.
You do not need to be “ill” to receive the benefit of healing. Why not give it a try. You never know it could change your life.
