healing and medicine

introduction

How have others found their experience of spiritual healing?

What have others experienced?

Was there some discomfort (click John's tale link below)?

What if medicine can offer no further help (click Mary's tale link below)?

This section is not intended to relate to testimonials, it is to illustrate spiritual healing and its place alongside medicine and the comfort it can bring in addition to the physical benefits.

Mary's tale

Mary was suffering from cancer. She had been advised to have a mastectomy, which she had had, but the cancer had spread through her body. Mary was undergoing chemotherapy, and felt ill, and frightened.

Mary came to see me, unsure of what to expect, and wondering whether there would be any point. She was expecting to die within a few months. I explained how I worked, the time involved and my charges. I also explained that I could not assure her of any cure, but that the healing process might well (at the very least) help her to relax. Mary was happy with what I said, and we started to work together. In the first session Mary felt her body relaxing and could feel intense heat, and energy moving within her.

Mary came to see me each week, for about 10 weeks. As we worked together Mary took back more and more of her own power. She looked into nutrition and started on a "cancer beating diet". She started with a biofeedback practitioner to monitor her body. She recognized the anger towards a previous situation that had been bottled up for many years, and she began to release it. Mary began to go swimming again.

Mary and I explored all of the things that she feared, including death. As time went on Mary began to talk to me in terms of her journey, that I was sharing with her. She became comfortable with the idea of death, or transformation as she began to see it.

After a while Mary believed that her body felt different, and she requested a scan at the hospital, which she had. The cancer had left her body completely.

Mary was full of joy, love and life. She wanted to go forward in life and support others and to help them in the way that she had discovered for herself. She wished to share her self-empowerment with others so that they might find their own empowerment and so allow self healing to occur.

John's tale

Spiritual Healing Following Major Surgery

It all happened last year (2002) towards the end of August. My husband underwent a very serious operation to remove what transpired to be a very large cancerous tumour from his abdomen. The operation took far longer than expected, because internal bleeding was excessive. One hundred and thirty litres of blood was lost in twenty four hours. One of the Consultants’s later told me that John had won the record for surviving such blood loss. He had required the entire stock of blood from King’s College Hospital, St Thomas’ and Guys. From that day onwards, for a month, John (name changed) was in intensive care, with every type of equipment and drug you could imagine being administered.

After a month of sitting beside my husband’s bedside, praying and willing him to live, I spoke to a friend to see what other options might be open to me. It was at this point that I was given the telephone number of Juliusz Wodzianski, who has now become a life line for the whole family as we continue to deal with John’s illness and his eventual return to health.

Juliusz’s first visit was at the end of September, six days after John had been released from intensive care into a ward. John who had lost about two stone in weight looked a very sorry sight, sitting beside his hospital bed wired to various drips. From that moment on Juliusz was to give us the extra strength and courage for the future. It was a special moment for both of us.

Juliusz spent about an hour with us calmly talking and preparing us for spiritual healing. First he put his hands on John’s shoulders and then without touching him worked systematically all over. Paul nearly fell asleep and said afterwards that it had made him feel very warm. I just sat very quietly taking in the special healing atmosphere and thinking positive thoughts for John’s well being.

Juliusz returned to the hospital two weeks later. On this occasion John was lying on the bed and the healing began in the same way, from the shoulders. Following this visit John walked with the aid of his drip stand to the bathroom for his first hair wash, which was an absolute joy to him.

One month later John was discharged from hospital. Since then we have received weekly distant healing and occasional face to face sessions. John’s continued recovery is miraculous. He has an inner strength and positive outlook which can only be admired by all that know him.

At the beginning of this year I too received healing. I had not realized how much John’s illness had taken it’s toll on me. However I was to find out quite dramatically when I had my first healing session.

I was sitting on a chair and Juliusz, as he had with John, put his hands on my shoulders to begin the healing. I closed my eyes and very soon I felt I was on a roller coaster. I came over very hot, as if I had a temperature, and then I felt sick. At this point Juliusz brought the healing to an end, and brought me back to earth, as it were, by touching my feet.

Although in some ways the actual healing experience had not been altogether pleasant, the way I felt afterwards was worth the short-lived discomfort. Following Juliusz’s healing I felt as though a great big heavy weight had been lifted from my shoulders. All the pain, tears and anxiousness of the past four months had been taken away.

Since that day I have had two more healing sessions and now we have come to the conclusion that lying down is better for me. When I realized for myself how powerful spiritual healing could be, I was grateful that John had experienced a far less dramatic reaction. He is very calm during the healing, often feeling warmth and falling asleep. We are both so grateful for the healing we have received and all who know us can see it’s benefits at first hand.

This article has been written by John’s wife. The only change that has been made is as to name to seek to avoid any person reading this article recognizing the author and Juliusz’s clients.

conclusion

I would like to see a fully integrated health service where all the benefits of conventional medicine and complementary medicine could be brought together for the benefit of the patient.

I am certain that more mainstream use of spiritual healing as a preventative measure in health care, and in cases of illness, would reduce the drugs cost to the NHS drastically.

The use of spiritual healing pre and post operation speeds up the recovery time, thereby helping to release many much needed beds.

It is heartening to see some primary care trusts employing spiritual healers.
